enforcement. “Students at technical high schools are eager to learn, and we have found they are very interested in how codes govern the building industry,” Jim said. “Many of these students can speak intelligently about the codes and ask outstanding questions about interpretation, which usually leads to additional code inquiries.” One of the best classroom experiences for any industry professional is participation in the code development process. The 2015/2016/2017 Code Development Cycle is underway and is the first full cycle to implement cdpACCESS, ICC’s revolutionary cloudbased system for code development. The Group A Committee Action Hearings concluded earlier this week in Memphis, Tenn., and will be followed by Online Assembly Motion Voting and several other opportunities to get involved. These and other initiatives have positioned ICC to provide quality products and services to all of its Members and stakeholders, including the next generation of code officials who will eventually replace an aging workforce.
