House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Edolphus “Ed” Towns (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 4869, the Restroom Gender Parity in Federal Buildings Act, also referenced as the “Potty Parity Act,” March 18, 2010, to address the issue of insufficient restroom facilities for women in federal buildings. Significant Changes to I-Codes
2009 International Building Code
An addition to storm shelters (Section 423) has been made to the 2009 International Building Code (IBC). The new ICC Storm Shelter standard, ICC/NSSA Standard for the Design and Construction of Storm Shelters, is now included as a referenced standard for regulating the design and construction of hurricane and tornado shelters.
