HSTTP: Building a Resilient Future by Training Our Youth continued HSTTP doesn’t just draw students. When we visit schools and talk about the various careers associated with code knowledge, school counselors as well as the instructors, principals and directors often admit that they have never thought of all the career opportunities available to technical students with Code Council certificates and certifications. The HSTTP has brought many new careers to light for students and educators as well, proving job resiliency has no age limit. Resiliency as a science is the new frontier in the construction industry. Everyone is looking at resiliency and asking, “What can we do to recover,” not only from catastrophes, but also from the day-to-day pitfalls and hardships of life. The HSTTP is the perfect opportunity to teach the youth, the next generation of leaders, about resiliency in their lives. With this information in hand, they can carry it to the next level. They are the next construction professionals, next instructors, the next generation of code officials. By giving them this opportunity, in the spirit of the Olympics, we “hand the baton off” to high school students and let them race to the future as the new generation of highly skilled construction and code officials.
