NEWS Code Essentials of Fire Department Connections For existing buildings, the International Fire Code (IFC) authorizes the code official to require the installation of additional signs to help identify the fire department connection location. In many cases, the IFC and International Building Code only require automatic sprinkler protection for the fire area or a portion of the building. Each volume provides a step-by-step approach to applying the structural provisions of the 2015 IBC and referenced standards. Volume 1: Code Application Examples features clarification of complex sections and additional commentary. Volume 2: Examples for Light-Frame, Tilt-Up, and Masonry Buildings has been updated to 2015 NDS/SDPWS, ACI 318-14, and TMS 402-13/602-13. Volume 3: Examples for Concrete Buildings is updated to ACI 318-14 with complex sections clarified.
